Curriculum
The Teaching and Curriculum Collaborative (TeCC) on Maui creates the infrastructure for building AWI curriculum specifically to meet local community needs. To meet these needs, four core elements will be integrated into AWI curriculum:
- Workforce Needs
- Science & Engineering Processes
- Diversity & Equity
- Hawai‘i Community and Cultural Context
TeCC includes:
- Teaching teams that design and teach innovative laboratory units in courses and programs. Teams participate in the Professional Development Program, design an inquiry-based unit, and then teach.
Past teachings teams
- Curriculum projects: TeCC is currently part of the team that is developing a new engineering technology program for Maui Community College. In addition to program level input, TeCC is developing two new courses that will be taught by the Institute for Astronomy
- Working groups, which identify critical needs and develop solutions for designing and teaching new curriculum. Past TeCC projects have produced the following reports:
- Internship Skills Inventory: Review of Akamai Internship Projects on Maui. Summarizes technical skills used by Akamai interns who completed internships in Maui high tech from 2003-2007.
- Internship Skills Inventory: Review of Akamai Internship Projects on Hawaii Island
- Engineering Process Skills Inventory: An Engineering Technology Skills Framework that Reflects Workforce Needs
